Limitations of Conventional Particulate Bone Grafts

Particulate bone graft materials are widely used in implant dentistry and regenerative surgery. However, their loose physical structure can create significant handling challenges during surgical procedures.

Conventional graft particles may:

  • Be difficult to transfer and position precisely.
  • Migrate from the intended grafting site.
  • Disperse during irrigation or suction.
  • Shift during membrane placement and wound closure.
  • Require chairside hydration, mixing, and preparation.
  • Be difficult to stabilize within irregular defects.
  • Require repeated manipulation during placement.
  • Make it difficult to maintain the desired graft geometry.

These limitations create a need for a more controlled, cohesive, and procedure-oriented method of delivering particulate bone graft material.
